Collospermum hastatum
Height: 1m;  Spread: 1m
Kahakaha (Lily & Iris-like)
Wide fleshy bright green flax-like leaves. Epiphytic, living in tree branches. Do not plant into ground as it needs a free draining site under shade. Useful pot plant.

Some very large Kahakaha remain growing in the branches a dead tree, Waimamaku
The characteristic dark brown at the centre of the radiating fan shows clearly in this young Collospermum.
The thick skirts of dead leaves hanging below mature Collospermums can produce some amazing sculptural effects.
