Distribution
South Island, Nelson and Akaroa to latitude 46 on east of the divide. Localised and found on forest margins in lowland to montane: {The lower vegetation belt on mountains} areas.
Our stock is sourced from the Riwaka Resurgence in Nelson.
Description
A liane: {Semi-climbing} with soft woody stems up to 5 m. May creep along ground and form tangled mass. Branches slender, flexuous, striate, pubescent, and branchlets pubescent often drooping. Leaves rather distant on slender petioles: {Leafstalk - the stalk by which a leaf is attached to a stem} up to 2 cm long or more, lamina: {Leaf surface} 1.5 - 3 x 1.5 - 3 cm, orbicular and coarsely dentate, scaberulous: {Rough} on both surfaces. Capitula: {Petals} less than 1 cm diameter in axillary and terminal small panicles: {Any loose, diversely branching flower cluster}. Flowers yellow.
Cultivation
Requires cool moist spot with light shade. Needs a large area to spread and free-draining friable soil. Rather attractive and fast growing. Hard to establish in warmer areas. No guarantees as to the success of this plant, but well worth trying.

Gradual decline.
